The Science

How Nano-Tech Roofing Works.

Nano-tech sealants are not paint and they are not a surface coating. They are a molecular bonding system that soaks deep into your shingles and reinforces them at the source — restoring protection your roof has slowly lost.

The problem

Why shingles actually fail.

Asphalt shingles are a fiberglass mat soaked in oxidized asphalt and topped with ceramic granules. They fail for three predictable reasons:

Oil loss

UV radiation and heat dry out the oils in the asphalt binder, leaving it brittle and prone to cracking.

Granule loss

As the binder shrinks, ceramic granules lose their grip and wash into your gutters — exposing the asphalt to even more UV.

Moisture & biology

Microcracks pull in water; algae and moss colonize damp surfaces and accelerate decay.

The insight

You may not need new shingles.

All three problems can be fixed without a new roof. Our sealant soaks into your shingles and brings back the protection they have lost. If the roof is still solid underneath and just looking worn, this gives it years of life back at a fraction of the cost.

A single application restores the surface chemistry, locks granules back down, and installs a permanent hydrophobic barrier — all for a fraction of the cost of a tear-off.

The chemistry

Tiny molecules, big protection, and why size matters.

The active ingredients are functional silanes — organosilicon molecules roughly 1–100 nanometers wide. A human hair is about 80,000 nanometers. At that scale they don't sit on a surface; they fit between the mineral grains of your shingles.

Step 1 · Wetting

Sub-micron penetration

Capillary forces draw the carrier into pores and hairline cracks far smaller than conventional acrylic sealants can reach.

Step 2 · Hydrolysis

Reactive groups activate

Silane head groups react with trace moisture to form silanol, the chemically active species that anchors to the substrate.

Step 3 · Condensation

Permanent siloxane lattice

Silanols condense with the asphalt and ceramic, forming a continuous Si–O–Si network: chemically bonded, not glued.

The advantages

Six layers of protection — in one application.

>110°

Water contact angle

Hydrophobic barrier

Surface energy drops sharply. Water beads up and sheets off the roof instead of soaking in.

98%

UV reflection

UV blocker

Inorganic UV absorbers reflect and dissipate ultraviolet before it breaks the asphalt's hydrocarbon chains.

−30°F

Surface temp drop

Thermal shield

Lower solar absorption means cooler shingles — slowing the thermal cycling that cracks them.

0

Spore adhesion

Biocidal surface

A tight, low-energy surface starves moss, lichen and algae of the foothold they need.

Yes

Breathable membrane

Vapor permeable

Water vapor still escapes from below, so trapped moisture never blisters or rots the deck.

+10 yrs

Added roof life

Granule lock

The sealant flows around each granule and re-bonds it to the mat, halting the loss that exposes shingles.

From bottle to bond

The application in 3 steps.

01

Inspection & prep

Every job starts with a full roof walk. We document shingle condition, check flashing and penetrations, and replace anything missing, lifted or broken — so the chemistry goes on a roof worth extending.

02

Soft wash & algae removal

A low-pressure biocidal cleaner kills moss, lichen and black algae streaks without stripping granules the way pressure washing does.

03

Sealant application

We spray the nano-sealant evenly across every shingle. It soaks in, bonds to the shingle itself, and cures within 24 hours into a clear, waterproof shield.

Landfill diversion

Asphalt shingles make up millions of tons of US landfill waste each year. Every roof we revive keeps tons out of the ground.

Lower cooling loads

Reduced solar absorption means less heat in the attic — measurable reductions in summer A/C runtime.

Safe & non-toxic

Modern silane formulations are non-toxic, VOC-compliant and safe for runoff, gardens and pets once cured.
